The title announcement glimpse for Emo Emo Idi was released recently. Director Dr. Sailesh Kolanu, known for the HIT franchise, has faced criticism for "objectionable" content in the clip. In the video, the lead actor (Roshan Meka) tells his mother that modern women have become manipulative in romantic relationships, implying that they are increasingly dishonest and even murderous.
This dialogue has not sat well with sections of the female audience. "When will the industry stop using tropes that constantly villainize women? It’s deeply rooted in misogyny, and we already deal with enough hate as it is. Grow up and write better stories," one X user lamented. Many expressed surprise that a director of Kolanu's caliber appears to be leaning into tired stereotypes rather than exploring fresh romantic themes.
In defense of Emo Emo Idi, some argue that the clip is merely an announcement teaser. "We know nothing about the film yet. They filmed this video specifically to announce the project; its content and dialogues may not even make it into the final cut," noted one movie buff.
