Back in the early to mid-2000s, RP Patnaik was one of the most sought-after music directors in southern cinema. In Telugu cinema, he ranked next only to Mani Sharma. At that time, owing to his versatility, he was roped in for a Pawan Kalyan movie.
In a recent interview, RP revealed that he lost the opportunity to compose tunes for a Power Star movie only because the aforementioned project was shelved and the producer of the movie switched to some other director-composer combination. "I don't want to talk about why the project changed hands. The fact is, I did compose tunes and Pawan Kalyan himself liked one of the melodies, which he listened to at my studio. I happened to travel to the US around that time. By the time I returned, the project switched hands," RP said.
RP Patnaik got the opportunity to compose for movies starring Prabhas, Mahesh Babu and Jr NTR, who were among the rising stars of the decade.
