Tamannaah Bhatia chosen for soap ads, BJP criticizes

The other day, the Congress government in Karnataka roped in Tamannaah Bhatia as the brand ambassador of Mysore Sandal Soap. The choice has led to a political controversy.

The row is primarily because of a clash between regional pride and marketing strategy. A few BJP leaders and functionaries have argued that a non-Kannada actor was chosen over local Sandalwood talent. They view this as an insult to the state’s cultural pride. The BJP has labeled the move by the Congress-led government as having an "anti-Kannada mindset," questioning why popular stars with Karnataka roots, such as Rashmika Mandanna, Pooja Hegde, or Rukmini Vasanth, were not selected.

Tamannaah Bhatia's most recent Telugu release is Odela 2. The 2025 release flopped at the box office. She was seen in Baahubali: The Epic on October 31 last year. On the personal front, she broke up with her boyfriend, Vijay Varma, last year.
