Maremma marks the debut of Maadhav Bhupathiraju, actor Ravi Teja's nephew. Its teaser is out. The film, written and directed by Manchala Nagaraj, is set in a fictional Telangana village named Mysapuram where a cultural tradition around the titular village goddess becomes the story's fulcrum. Based on "true events", the film's writing involved "extensive research". Maadhav underwent language training for three months. Deepa Balu, Vikas Vasishta, the 1980s hero Vinod Kumar, Rupa Lakshmi, and Dayanand Reddy have notable roles in this Summer release.
The film's beats don't look novel. The viewer is reminded of the trend-setting Kantara and the recent Pottel (which was a flop, by the way). An episode in Maremma is expected to mimic the style of the Jathara episode from Pushpa 2.
While the team has rejected comparisons with other titles such as Pottel, the audience won't be convinced unless the next major promotional video, the trailer, is interesting.
Moksha Arts has bankrolled Maremma, whose music is by Prashanth R. Vihari.
