In Leader, Legend Saravanan plays a fierce father who protects his daughter and is her superhero by all reckoning. The April 2026 release features the actor in a bearded role.
A title glimpse was released earlier today. Named the First Blow, it presents the hero's fatal blows on baddies in slow motion (no rapid cuts as seen in most teasers these days). This is an unconventional way of presenting an underdog hero who otherwise lets his baby girl savour ice cream after/before duly dishing out just desserts to the baddies.
What is the film about? Talking about the premise, director RS Durai Senthilkumar said, "My movie follows the harrowing journey of an everyman trapped in a city at war." It is suggested that the protagonist is forced to navigate a web of corruption and crime. Saravanan's character must find the strength to lead his inner circle through a conflict where no one is truly innocent. The hero is on a mission to rescue or avenge his daughter, who has a hearing impairment, after she is targeted/kidnapped.
While action and drama are the major elements, Leader will also be suspenseful. Payal Rajput of RX 100 fame is the female lead. Mahesh Mathew's action choreography looks real.
To be released simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil, Leader also features Sham, Andrea Jeremiah, Santhosh Prathap, Lal, Baahubali Prabhakar, Amirtha Aiyer, VTV Ganesh, and Aishwarya. Ghibran and S Venkatesh are the music director and cinematographer, respectively. Thoothukudi, Jaipur, Ooty, Georgia, and Chennai are where Leader was shot.
