Mayasabha, directed by Deva Katta and Kiran Jay Kumar, has started streaming on OTT. Co-starring Aadhi Pinisetty and Chaitanya Madadi in roles indirectly alluding to YSR and Chandrababu Naidu, the political drama has received mixed reviews.
Scroll is not positive about the nature of treatment. "The heavily dramatised staging and performances play to the gallery. It is an overly long, often overwrought and enervating saga of the quest for domination," the review said.
The Hindu opined that Mayasabha falters slightly in its college flashbacks where song-and-dance segments and one-sided romances overstay their welcome.
The middle potions, as per another review, are a drag.
Mayasabha also features Sai Kumar (as an NTR-like character) and Nasser (as a Ramoji Rao-like character). Shatru, Tanya Ravichandran, Bhavana Vazhapandal and Charitha Varma have different roles. Shakthi Kanth Karthick is its music director. Praveen KL is its editor.
