A morning at the cinema turned tragic today at the Arjun Theatre in Hyderabad's Kukatpally. During a screening of the new Megastar Chiranjeevi film, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, a man in his early 60s breathed his last.
The deceased, identified as Anand Kumar, a retired Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police, was reportedly enjoying the film when he suddenly collapsed in his seat. Fellow audience members and theater staff acted quickly to shift him to a nearby hospital. Despite the rapid response, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Preliminary reports suggest that Mr. Kumar suffered a fatal heart attack while inside the auditorium.
Similar incidents have happened thrice in recent years. In September 2024, a young Jr. NTR fan, Mastan Vali, suffered a fatal heart attack on the spot while watching Devara at Apsara Theatre in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. In 2022, a man died of a heart attack during a screening of RRR in a theatre. In the same year, a viewer collapsed and died of a heart attack while watching Avatar: The Way of Water in Andhra Pradesh.
