Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting, headlined by Abhignya Vuthaluru and Charan Lakkaraju, will make its debut on ZEE5 on June 27. The makers of the thriller series today unveiled its trailer at an event in Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, guest and actor Naveen Chandra vowed to binge-watch the ZEE5 original on its release date. He stated that actress Abhignya is someone he follows on social media. "The trailer of Viraatapalem is pretty intriguing. Recce, the previous show of director Krishna Poluru, is among my favourite web series," Naveen Chandra said.

Writer Divya said that even though the series takes place in a bygone era (in the 1980s), its content is relevant. Thanking the Andala Rakshasi actor for launching the trailer, she expressed excitement about writing her debut web series.

For Abhignya, this is the first time she got to sport the khaki. As a constable with guts, she exposes the prevalence of superstitions in the village of Viraatpalem. "While writing this script must have been a challenge, execution was equally challenging," she analyzed.

Producer Sriram (South Indian Screens) said that, after Recce, he listened to multiple scripts. "None of them inspired me to want to produce a show until this script came my way. If something is not haunting, I wouldn't want to invest in it. Viraatapalem haunted me and that's why I chose to produce it. I approached my Recce director, Krishna, with a request to wield the megaphone. Despite his other commitments, he directed the show," the producer said.

ZEE5 Content Head Sai Tej revealed that plans are afoot to turn PC Meena into a franchise character. In an upcoming edition, she will go on another mission altogether. He praised Vikram's "beautiful screenplay". Abhignya's performance came in for praise, so also Sriram's commitment as a producer. He mentioned that ZEE5 recently brought forth Sankranthiki Vasthunam to its viewers' monitors. "Like that movie, Viraatapalem will be a blockbuster on our platform," he added.

Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting will start streaming on June 27.
