In 2021 or so, director Sujeeth was commissioned to handle a remake with Pawan Kalyan. He worked on the remake for three months, but was asked to abandon it by both Trivikram and Kalyan. He then tried to collaborate with Mythri Movie Makers on some other project. While on it, a couple of months later, Trivikram and producer DVV Danayya asked him to pitch an original idea for Kalyan.
At this point, Sujeeth pitched a storyline with a Mahabharatham-inspired narrative about a neutral person (the male lead) ultimately allying with the good guys (modelled after Pandavas). Kalyan and Trivikram okayed this and asked him to develop a script. Later on, Sujeeth had a change of mind and pivoted the story to a Japanese connection since he felt that Japan cultural symbols such as the Samurai are something Kalyan personally likes.
