Idli Kottu stars Dhanush and Nithya Menen in lead roles. The comedy drama is titled Idli Kadai in Tamil. It will head to theatres on October 1.
The Telugu release is being done by Rama Rao Chintapalli of the Sri Vedakshara Movies banner. The movie also features Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Sathyaraj, and Rajkiran.
The Telugu version will be sandwiched between two tentpole releases at the box office: Pawan Kalyan's OG (September 25th release) and Kantara: Chapter 1 (October 2nd release).
Over the years, the content in Dhanush's movies has surprised the audience when expectations were low. He is also in form (Thiruchitrabalam, SIR, Raayan, Kuberaa). Last year, Karthi's Sathyam Sundaram was hit by Jr NTR's Devara despite good content. Idli Kottu, despite the value of its content, runs the risk of being overpowered by OG and Kantara: Chapter 1. In a rare twist of sorts, it could hold its ground despite the clash.
