Dude: Making it with a Tamil hero was a no-brainer

With Dude becoming a hit over the Diwali week, Mythri Movie Makers is on cloud nine. For the banner, its Tamil-language original doing well after Ajith's Good Bad Ugly is a huge push.

In a way, the banner is making the right moves across film industries. Sunny Deol's Jaat in Hindi was not a flop; it more than recovered its budget from theatrical and non-theatrical sources combined. Dude, however, is even more special because it is doing well in both Telugu and Tamil.

What is ticking for producers Y Ravi Shankar and Neveen Yerneni in different languages would be of interest for movie analysts. "I think Mythri knows the game, man. If Dude were done with some mid-range hero in Telugu, even if it became the biggest of biggest hits, no one would care in Tamil Nadu. But if they cast a Tamil hero with just 1-2 good songs, it will fetch them 50% recovery in Telugu alone," wrote Epic Comments Telugu on X.

Dude being made in Tamil was a no-brainer. Mythri Movie Makers didn't have to consider other options. The story came from a Tamilian and only a Tamil hero could have been chosen. It's not like the story originated in Hyderabad and the producers persuaded a Tollywood director to team up with Pradeep Ranganathan.
