When Jandhyala collaborated with RGV on experimental film

Jandhyala wrote dialogues for some of the most popular movies in the early 1990s. Among them are Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (1990) and Aapadbandhavudu (1992). There was a surprise collaboration between him and Ram Gopal Varma.

That was for Govinda Govinda, the 1994 supernatural heist film, which was way ahead of its times in terms of genre and treatment. Jandhyala wrote dialogues for this one, rumouredly because producer C Aswini Dutt prodded him to take insights from the learned man. The film's prologue involved mythical elements.

Govinda Govinda was a box-office failure. It is believed that the Nagarjuna-Sridevi movie came a cropper because it was seen as offensive towards the sentiments of Hindus. The CBFC, too, raised objections, prompting RGV to announce that he won't ever make a straight Telugu film. Jandhyala was on the verge of retirement from movies when he wrote dialogues for the movie.
