Telugu Film Chamber condemns strike by Employees' Federation

On Sunday evening, the Telugu Film Industry Employees' Federation announced a total strike. It demanded that workers be given a 30% wage hike immediately. If not, shoots will continue to be halted. The body asked for a thorough revision of the existing pay structure.

The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce has condemned the call for a total strike, stating that, already, higher than minimum wages are being paid for both skilled and unskilled workers. It stated that the strike threatens to damage films under production.

"The Chamber condemns this action, having worked with the Federation's members for decades, and is in talks with relevant authorities for a sustainable resolution. Producers are instructed to follow the Chamber's guidance and avoid independent actions or separate arrangements with unions until a resolution is reached. Unity is required for a lasting reform and a better future," said KL Damodar Prasad, the Hon. Secretary of the TFCC.
