The District app today announced an offer named Flash Friday, an exciting offer where movie tickets are available for just Rs 10. The offer was notably time-sensitive, valid for only 10 minutes, which added a sense of urgency to the promotion. Additional fine print indicated that specific Terms and Conditions applied.
The whole affair received a mixed response. Most social media users felt "scammed". "I kept trying for ten minutes but couldn't register a ticket because I encountered a technical snag on the District app," an X user wrote. The offer was not valid at premium multiplex properties.
Going by several social media handles, theatres on the outskirts of Hyderabad were more amenable. Many could book tickets for Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom at a cost of just Rs 10.
"The offer was valid only for app users. The District app aimed at making people install their app. It was a marketing gimmick," a movie buff added.
