Samantha Ruth Prabhu has offered a blunt look back at the start of her career. In a surprising statement, she admitted she felt an inner struggle to connect with and embody the "glamorous roles" she often played years ago.
The multi-lingual actress confessed that in her early days, she often felt the glamorous characters she portrayed "didn't feel like me." Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Samantha opened up about the pressure to conform, stating, "I was trying too hard to be like my fantastic peers — to look like them, act like them, dance like them." She concluded by saying, "Looking back, those performances feel absolutely ridiculous, I think."
While she didn't name any of the films in particular, it is not difficult to guess which ones she is talking about. After Ye Maya Chesave, not many films offered her memorable roles.
Samantha is currently acting in and producing an action drama titled Maa Inti Bangaram, directed by Oh! Baby maker Nandini Reddy. The film will hit the cinemas in 2026.
