Aamir Khan may not be considered the biggest Hindi star by Gen Z, but he has consistently set new benchmarks for commercial viability.
The actor's remarkable run began in 2008 when his thriller, Ghajini, etched its name in history as the inaugural Indian film to cross the coveted Rs 100 crore nett mark. Aamir surpassed this achievement just a year later with 3 Idiots, a film that went on to become the very first to achieve the Rs 200 crore milestone. He once again shattered expectations with the high-octane Dhoom 3 in 2013.
The trailblazing continued in 2014 with PK, which joined the Rs 300 crore club. However, perhaps his most enduring box office legacy arrived in 2016 with the critically acclaimed sports drama, Dangal, which held the prestigious title of Hindi cinema's highest-grossing film for an impressive seven years.
Aamir Khan hasn't had a good time lately, with Laal Singh Chaddha flopping badly. He awaits the release of Sitaare Zameen Par on June 20. Advance bookings for the movie are dull. He will appear in the climax of Rajinikanth's Coolie in a cameo. Next up, he will team up with directors Rajkumar Hirani (for a biopic) and Lokesh Kanagaraj (for a superhero movie).
