The trailer for Mardaani 3 (Hindi), released recently, has sparked admiring conversations across social media. The overall reception has been overwhelmingly positive, especially from those who love racy cop thrillers. The most common sentiment is pure excitement over Rani Mukerji's return as Shivani Shivaji Roy.
And now, a female celebrity has gone gaga over the trailer. Indian women’s cricket team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, is the one. “Love our police force who are always there to protect us every day. The #Mardaani3 trailer is insane can’t wait to watch the film," she wrote.
The trailer introduces Rani's character as an uncompromising, daredevil cop who risks her life to save 93 missing pre-teen girls in a race against time. The issue of human trafficking and how girls as young as 9-year-old are brutalized by sadistic, organized gangs is narrated in a moving fashion. In a brief stretch, the chief antagonist, known as Amma, fools a victim in a dangerous way.
Mardaani 3 is positioned as a visceral battle between the inherent goodness of the protagonist and the menacing evil of the antagonist. The film also features Janki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad.
Directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra, this project features a story penned by the trio of Aayush Gupta, Deepak Kingrani, and Baljeet Singh Marwah. The screenplay and dialogues were handled by Aayush Gupta, while the visuals were captured by Director of Photography Artur Żurawski PSC and shaped by Production Designer Kailash Sahu. The film was edited by Yasha Jaidev Ramchandani, with a background score composed by John Stewart Eduri. The sound designers were Dileep Subramaniam and Ganesh Gangadharan. For the film's high-energy sequences, Sunil Rodrigues (ROD) and Parvez Shaikh served as the action directors.
Mardaani 3 will head to theatres on January 30.
