Lokesh Kanagaraj scrapped Rajinikanth villain film for THIS reason

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has revealed an insight into a shelved project with superstar Rajinikanth, predating their announced collaboration, Coolie. The Vikram director disclosed he had penned a "huge fantasy film" where Rajinikanth was envisioned as the antagonist, with another actor in the heroic lead.

This ambitious project, however, demanded extensive pre-production, including significant artistic involvement and a two-year commitment. Lokesh opted to set it aside, stating, "I don't want to waste Rajini sir's peak time."

Such a film would have been way better than duds like Vettaiyan for Rajinikanth. This project might never be taken on by Lokesh himself, considering his calender is full for the next five years.

Rajinikanth now awaits the release of Coolie on August 14. Co-starring Akkineni Nagarjuna as the villain, Coolie's music is by Anirudh Ravichander. Sun Pictures has produced it.
