The Raja Saab: Netizens praise Prabhas for moving away from typical A-lister choices

In a tweet today, director Ram Gopal Varma made an interesting observation on Prabhas in The Raja Saab. He hailed Prabhas' upcoming horror-fantasy comedy as a revelation. "The Raja Saab showcases the most unexpected side of Prabhas since being repeatedly subjected to the intense side of him for so many years… Not just intense or charm, but this is a MULTI MASALA MIX of the BEST OF PRABHAS," RGV wrote, celebrating the star's shift from high-octane action epics like Baahubali, Salaar, and Kalki 2898 AD to a vibrant blend of genres.

Netizens are piling on. Fans are lauding Prabhas for breaking free from his "intense" mold and delivering a cocktail of comedy, romance, horror, and swag that feels refreshingly vintage yet innovative. "One thing I appreciate in Prabhas is that amongst all the A-listers, he chooses the most versatile roles! While the rest are very caged inside their image, he is choosing a variety of scripts! It is wonderful to see him show the guts and stretch the boundaries!" tweeted Satya Yerramilli.

"Prabhas is on a different path. While most stars are chasing mass genres filled with blood, violence, drug-related themes, Prabhas is completely avoiding that rat race. Instead, he is bringing fresh vibes with horror and comedy, a rare choice for a star hero today," wrote Rangasthalam IN.

The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas in a two-shaded role, will head to theatres on 9 January 2026.
