26-year-old Kannada television actress C.M. Nandini expressed profound disinterest in a government job she was offered on compassionate grounds after her father's passing in 2021. She died by suicide earlier this week.
Nandini, who had been living in Bengaluru since 2019 to chase her acting dreams after abandoning engineering studies, refused the taluk office position in 2023. Since the time she defied her family expectations, peer and social pressure are believed to have affected her mental health.
Nandini didn't want to be stuck in a stable government job, her diary entry indicated. No foul play is suspected as per her mother's complaint. Nandini appeared in several Kannada serials.
