Actor Sivaji has expressed his regret over using unparliamentary language against actresses at yesterday's Dhandoraa event. His apology came hours after several Tollywood women celebrities threatened him with legal action.
However, Sivaji's apology came with a bizarre self-defense argument. He stated that he made the remark in the wake of a couple of actresses recently getting mobbed at events. This was an indirect reference to the incidents involving Nidhhi Agerwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu this month. The names of Nidhhi and Samantha were mentioned by Voice of Women, the Tollywood body, in their condemnation letter.
"I made the remark with the intent that, if you dress properly, it won't be inconvenienced when you step out," Sivaji said.
His apology doesn't sound sincere by any reckoning. He is clearly blaming the female actors for them getting mobbed by dangerous crowds. Also, this particular element in his video statement comes as an afterthought. In his speech yesterday, he asked all female actors to dress up like Savitri and Soundarya for all occasions.
