Sivaji's regressive views juxtaposed with Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry's delivery

Actor Sivaji has faced censure over his recent remarks. Even the National Commission for Women summoned him last week. He has apologized for his remarks, further adding that a conspiracy has been afoot to defame him.

In this regard, an old video of the legendary lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry has resurfaced. While on a TV show, he opined that girls shouldn't be encouraged to perform in reality shows for vulgar songs that require them to wear body-hugging clothing. "When your daughter is on such shows, do you look at her as a father or a man? Ask yourself this question. I know I am being extreme but it is high time people are asked to choose between honour and celebrityhood," Sirivennela says in the video.

Why didn't the song-writer invite the wrath of female celebrities? Is it because he didn't use objectionable language (Sivaji used two cuss words)? Is it because some individuals are seen as above censure because they have been put on a pedestal? A Netizen writes, "Sirivennela delivered his message in a harmless way that turns the cards undeniably well. Actually, debates should happen around this, but unfortunately people pick up the wrong message which proves the point that they are not solution seekers." It's possible that Sirivennela didn't invite criticism because he wanted teen girls to not appear in public in immodest clothing. Sivaji's views targeted adults.
