There is a new rumour in the town that Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan will be joining forces with Lokesh Kanagaraj for a two-hero movie. The rumour adds that Lokesh has decided to drop Karthi's Kaithi 2 in favour of this dream duo.
If the rumour is true and Kaithi 2 gets delayed by a couple of years, it will be yet another proof that medium-range heroes will continue to suffer in the era of massive action spectacles.
In Telugu cinema, almost all superstar directors take 2-3 years to complete one project. From Prabhas to Mahesh Babu, from Allu Arjun to Ram Charan, they have many choices to choose from. As a result, medium-range stars have to settle for medium-range directors, whose creativity is shaky and unreliable.
In Tamil cinema, the situation is worse even though the number of superstars is minimal there. Karthi was counting on Kaithi 2 to make a big difference to his stocks. If Lokesh ditches this key LCU project, the actor will have to bide his time for his next big break. Sardar 2 is a big-scale action project, but it is a dwarf compared with Kaithi 2.
