Raju Weds Rambai is sincere, pure and real: ETV Win head Sai Krishna

"When I first heard the script of Raju Weds Rambai, it felt like a native, relatable story," says ETV Win's Content Head, ahead of the movie's November 21st release. In this interview, he talks about the film's quintessential highlights.

As you all know, Raju Weds Rambai is based on a true incident in a village in Telangana. We decided to shoot the movie in the village where the incident happened. Initially, we faced stiff opposition from the locals. Eventually, we could get things going but unfavourable weather conditions (incessant monsoon rains) delayed production works.

The story involves a tragic event. However, the treatment is not brooding or gloomy. While watching the movie, nothing separates the audience from the world the story is unfolding. Everything is that real. The director has brought in purity and innocence to the sincere narration. Since mostly newcomers have donned different roles, there is guaranteed freshness as well.

Akhil's performance as Raju was perfectly executed. I firmly anticipate that he will establish himself as a promising young hero. Tejaswini fully justified the role of Rambai with her portrayal. Additionally, Chaitanya Jonnalagadda delivered an impressive performance as Venkanna, Rambai's father.

When director Saailu Kampati narrated the story, we asked him to come up with a demo shoot to test his calibre. Once we were happy, we collaborated on the project. This film satisfies ETV Win's mission to be a modern-day, family-friendly extension of Usha Kiran Movies banner.

The film's climax has been described as hard-hitting (by producer Venu Udugula and director Saailu). They were unsure whether ETV Win would support the originally conceived climax. So, they came out with an alternate climax. However, we didn't want any compromises and went with the original version.

The dialect used by the characters in the movie is hyper-local. In order to make it more marketable, we had to tone down the authenticity a bit.

Our partnership with Vamsi Nandipati and Bunny Vas has proven highly successful. Following the success of Little Hearts, we are confident that Raju Weds Rambai will be another hit collaboration.

About ETV Win's upcoming projects:

ETV Win is gearing up for a strong December lineup, featuring the release of the Kanaka Mahalakshmi 2 web series. We are also excited to bring a new film starring Thiruveer exclusively to the platform.

About ETV Win's mission and target audience:

Our platform has tried to erase the impression that OTT content is mainly for the non-family adult audience. Through a combination of originals and post-theatrical releases like A Middle Class Biopic, Air, Anaganaga, and Little Hearts, we have been able to firmly establish a family-friendly image among our viewer base.
