With OG's Day 1 gross standing at Rs 154 Cr, Sujeeth is only the fourth filmmaker in India to have two back-to-back Rs 100 Cr opening-day grossers at the box office. His previous film, Saaho, grossed Rs 126 Cr on Day 1. OG was least expected to enter the one-billion territory until about two weeks ago. It shattered all expectations and broke into a bigger league.
The other three filmmakers in the league are SS Rajamouli, Prashanth Neel, and Lokesh Kanagaraj. For Rajamouli, the films are Baahubali 2 and RRR. For Prashanth Neel, the movies are KGF 2 and Salaar. Lokesh Kanagaraj is credited with two such films: Leo and Coolie.
The movies headlined by Prabhas, Thalapathy Vijay, Yash, the Jr NTR-Ram Charan duo, and Pawan Kalyan registering spectacular openings at the box office has helped boost the appeal of their directors remarkably. The next directors who are capable of such a record are Sukumar and Nag Ashwin from Tollywood.
