Rajamouli celebrates Baahubali rocket, Netizens call him nationalist

On Sunday, SS Rajamouli extended his congratulations to ISRO on the successful launch of the heaviest communication satellite CMS-03 today. He called it a "proud moment for India showcasing our technological strength and self-reliance in space exploration". The RRR maker further added, "Our entire Baahubali team is elated as ISRO fondly named this rocket ‘Bahubali’.. Due to its heaviness and strength.. Truly a privilege for all of us."

The social media post has fetched Rajamouli the tag of a nationalist from a vocal segment of audience, some of whom contrasted his social media activity to that of his Kollywood counterparts like Mani Ratnam. "Not supporting Rajamouli but I have never seen filmmakers like Vetrimaaran and Pa Ranjith congratulating Indian achievements. They always showcase negative aspects of everything. Even with Mani Ratnam who signed mercy petitions of the Afzhal Guru," wrote Rohith.

In the present instance, Rajamouli might have had a personal reason to thank the ISRO over the name of the rocket, but he does celebrate sporting achievements like only a few film celebs in the country. There was a time when Rajamouli's social media life was pretty average. After Baahubali, he has used his voice quite responsibly.
