Arjun Reddy to Animal: Adult ratings affected box office collections

Arjun Reddy (Telugu), Kabir Singh (Hindi), and Animal (Hindi) received an 'A' (Adults Only) certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). When Arjun Reddy received 'A' in 2017, it sparked discussions. College youths and those in their 20s rushed to watch the romantic drama owing to televised pre-release controversies as well. Ranbir Kapoor's Animal would have been certified 'U/A' had the makers accepted some CBFC cuts. They didn't and they got 'A'.

In a chit-chat with Vijay Deverakonda, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has revealed that his movies don't realize their fullest potential at the box-office due to 'A' ratings. "Distributors tell me my movies lose out because of the 'A' rating they get," the director of the three movies said, hoping that Kingdom gets 'U/A' so that it box-office potential remains fully intact. Kingdom apparently has some violent scenes in its second half.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga is currently doing Spirit with Prabhas. If its rumoured ultra-violent content is anything to go by, it will receive 'A' rating.
