Midhunam Success Meet

Padma Bhushan Dr S P Balasubrahmaniam and National award winner Lakshmi starrer ‘Midhunam’ directed by Tanikella Bharani with Anand Rao as producer was recently released and won the hearts of Telugu movie lovers. On this occasion Darsakaratna Dasari Narayana Rao organised a press meet to appreciate and congratulate Tanikella Bharani and producer Anand Rao. The press meet was also attended by Sekhar Kammula, Siva Nageswara Rao, Neelakanta, R Narayana Murthy, J K Bharavi, Ram Prasad, N Shankar, Relangi Narasimha Rao, etc.

Dasari Narayana Rao said, “There is lack of theaters for good films these days. It should be appreciated that a new producer courageously made a pure Telugu film at this juncture where producers plan to release in as many number of theaters to make their films commercial success. I watched ‘Midhunam’ and saw the real life. I felt like I saw a pure Telugu film after many years. I listened to pure Telugu language in this film. Balu and Lakshmi gave wonderful performances. The audience could see the anger, happiness and comedy like elements. This movie can be watched by all. Those who got the opportunity to watch the film appreciated Bharani for his wonderful attempt. This kind of film requires mouth publicity. With good publicity the movie is sure to become a big hit. ‘Midhunam’ should receive a national award, if not we can call it as injustice done to the film. I’m aware of the struggles Bharani underwent while filming this movie. No theaters were available even on the release date and nobody knew where it was released. It was released in those theaters where some films were removed. The entire industry is being ruled by few of them. There are hardly anyone who think about the welfare of the industry. There are many circumstances where the small films hardly get theaters. Dasari would not have become a director had this kind of situation existed 40 years ago. The money earned through cinema must be invested on cinema only and not by hiring theaters. Due to this practice small movies have no future. I’ve few points to discuss with Chief Minister about giving life to small films. And I will definitely see to it that justice will be done to small films.”

Director Tanikella Bharani said, “I thank the producer for coming forward to do this film by trusting me despite being the small subject. Balaji Nagalingam supported us a lot in promoting the film. The movie is getting good response in abroad also. I thank my guru Dasari garu for helping us in promoting the film as well as expressing his happiness.”

Producer Anand Rao said, “I am glad to note that all elders in the industry are appreciating our film. I’m also happy to step into the film industry with a pure Telugu film like ‘Midhunam’. Bharani garu narrated this story to me during my son’s wedding. And I made this film with the budget same as the wedding budget. I never worried about the returns when I invested in the film just as we don’t expect anything in return after performing our daughter’s wedding with huge dowry. Infact I was happy for having made a good movie and today I’m very satisfied with the success of the film.”

All others also spoke and appreciated Tanikella Bharani and the film ‘Midhunam’.
